Still Going Strong

At 100, Bea Baker looks and acts like someone half her age. She’s still going strong, with no plans on stopping.

She just got back from a 21-day trip to Europe. The year before she made a trip to Costa Rica. She’s also writing a book about “intimacy for the older generation.”

According to Bea, she’s lived a clean life, neither smoking nor drinking alcohol, and she loves people. Other than that, she doesn’t have any secrets for living to 100.

Bea spent her youth during the Great Depression, worked in her family’s car agency (they sold Model T Fords – the kind that you had to crank), and had her political interest first sparked during the 1932 presidential race between Herbert Hoover and Franklin Roosevelt – even though she was just a child. To this day she keeps up to date on politics so that she is prepared for conversations with her family.

She raised a family, attended UCLA, taught herself to ski at 58, and today continues her life-long passion of painting. She’s enjoyed numerous hobbies that included friendships, family, mental and physical activity, and creativity. In other words, she’s created her ideal 100 Year Lifestyle.

If asked, Baker insists that there is nothing special about her life. She sees herself as being just like everybody else. Decide for yourself if you agree with Bea or not. Keep reading.
